Pregnancy Care Ministry

Teenage pregnancy is a significant issue in the Dominican Republic, with one of the highest rates in Latin America. Many young girls become mothers before finishing school, often due to a combination of poverty, limited access to education, abuse, and a lack of comprehensive sexual health information. Cultural norms and unstable family situations can also contribute to early pregnancies, leaving many teens vulnerable and unprepared for the physical, emotional, and financial responsibilities of parenthood. This cycle often leads to reduced opportunities and continued poverty.

These high rates of teenage pregnancies leave many girls living without access to adequate medical, emotional, or spiritual support. Limited healthcare resources, economic challenges, and social pressures often leave mothers feeling isolated and uncertain about their options. Pregnancy Care Ministry provides compassionate care, education, and practical assistance that affirms the value of both mother and child. By offering counseling, prenatal resources, and a message of hope grounded in the love of Christ, this ministry empowers women to choose life, strengthens families, and helps communities reflect God’s heart for every person He creates.

Mission Zoom is preparing to launch a new ministry initiative called “Semillas de Esperanza” or “Seeds of Hope”. This ministry is aimed at helping serve young, at-risk moms, training them to know Jesus, disciple their families, and be agents of generational change in the Dominican Republic through the power of the Gospel. Three main pillars that are vital to the success of this ministry are discipleship, resource help, and education/training.
